UVA and UVB radiation or Ultra-violet radiation refers to the invisible rays that come from the sun. (and can burn your skin, resulting in skin cancer). There are three types of UV radiation rays, UVA, UVB, and UVC. The Earth’s protective ozone layer is there to block these harmful rays. However, UVA and UVB radiation penetrate this layer and reach the surface of the Earth. UVA and UVB are threatening for human beings and can cause dangerous diseases. On the other hand, UVC is the most powerful among the three, but it cannot penetrate the ozone layer. Therefore, it does no damage to humans. The damaging effects from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays can be termed as chronic or acute. The acute effects are short-term and bearable. These may include tanning or sunburn. However, the chronic effects of UVA and UVB  radiation are much more destructive. Premature aging of the skin, damage to the eyes, and skin cancer can be examples of chronic exposure. :

Immune System and Damage Eyes  When our body is over-exposed to the sun, this may have a damaging effect on our immune system. Some scientists believe that sunburn affects the white blood cells. The immune system defends our body from all harmful diseases. A person whose immune system is weak is more likely to get attacked by many diseases. Moreover, direct sunlight can also damage our eyes and burn the surface of the eye. This is called snow-blindness. This is a long-term issue as the affects will disappear within a day or two, but may cause problems later in life. Therefore, it is never too late to start taking care and get protected against UVA and UVB  radiation. Skin Cancer UV is considered as one of the most prominent cancer-causing agents in our surroundings. It is a solid case that exposure to the sunlight can cause all three major types of skin cancers. These are squamous cell carcinoma, cell carcinoma, and melanoma. A recent study has proved that UV rays cause almost 90% of skin cancers. Aging Skin Constant exposure to the sun can speed up the aging of the skin as the UV rays destroy the upper layer of the skin. This can result in brown spots and wrinkles on the skin. A person can easily differentiate between the affected skin and natural skin as both sides have different colors. Usually, the upper side of the hand is more damaged. You should quickly start a sun protection program, basic rule of it – use a sunblock every time you go out!

Please consider using sunblock whenever possible. It is better to start taking care of your skin now, rather than feeling sorry later. Therefore, it is important for parents to make sure that their children do not have over-exposure to the sun. For this reason, it is highly recommended to put covers in your swimming pools as well as patios.
